Online product visualiser for Sonae Arauco and its partners
ArtiCAD’s 3D web-based Room Styler has been supplied to Sonae Arauco, a major manufacturer of wood-based panels. Branded as ‘The Novolam Visualizer’ by Sonae Arauco, the software provides an innovative and interactive means of displaying the company’s products online to potential customers, and for capturing potential sales leads.
Paul Lerios, who worked on the project at Sonae Arauco: “We were looking for a tool that was simple to use – and simple to install – which we could not only run on our own web site, but also offer to a number of partners. ArtiCAD’s Room Styler fitted this brief exactly.”
The Novolam Visualizer is hosted on the Novolam.com web site (Sonae Arauco South Africa’s product web site) and to date has also been provided to thirty other companies. Paul Lerios: “Our goal is to offer it to any of our partners that would like it. By doing this, we drive value to our manufacturer partners and make it as easy as possible for them to use our products. It is also increasing awareness of our products to consumers, who will see our range and colour choices when they visit the manufacturer’s site.”
Visitors to web sites which run the Novolam Visualizer can click on different coloured boards within a kitchen setting to decide which would work best for them. If they wish to save an image, they are required to enter their details, which are automatically passed to that company for further sales and marketing activity.
Currently there are twenty-four different colour options, with new ones being added as trends change.
Sonae Arauco is the result of a merger between Portuguese company, Sonae Industria, and Arauco of Chile. The company manufactures particle board and MDF which is also upgraded to melamine faced board, selling its products through a network of distributors and case goods manufacturers. The group as a whole employs some 2000 staff, with the South African operation employing over three hundred people.
Paul Lerios: “The Novolam Visualizer is part of our overall communications plan. It has now been operational for just over two months and the response has been excellent. The support and advice we have received from ArtiCAD has been brilliant.”
