You and your designers have the opportunity to apply for a Foundation Degree in kitchen Design from Bucks New University for 2019/20

Bucks New uni logo - 250.jpgThe course is a three year Foundation Degree programme, which has attracted extensive media coverage and an industry award for innovation. The course has the backing of the industry through the formation of The Kitchen Education Trust (TKET) which helps to shape the course content via the University’s Industry Advisory Panel.

The course raises the profile of the sector and studios employing qualified designers can attract higher net worth prospects. Achieving an academic qualification in design brings a greater level of professionalism to the kitchen industry, improving our credibility with other industry professionals, retail clients and developers.

The kitchen is an increasingly significant area of design. More informed and creative designers with better design skills, product knowledge and understanding of the industry increases their ability to engage with clients and meet their requirements.

The course is more than just design. It includes materials, technology, business, marketing and sales, history, psychology, manufacturing and project management.

Format of the course

Bucks uni image 3.jpgThe course is taught on-line by kitchen design experts. Most students work within the sector and fit their assignments around full or part time work, studying an average of 15 hours per week.

There are three compulsory residential weekends each year where students, the course team and industry experts will meet, discuss and present ideas. These sessions will introduce students to key concepts, theories and knowledge which you will then continue to develop through distance learning, including regular tutorials and on-line materials.

Entry to the course

Students should normally have five GCSEs including English and Maths at grade C or above and an appropriate level three qualification. However relevant work experience from a related industry sector, an aptitude for design and a willingness to commit to the level of personal study required will be given equal consideration.

Places are limited, and applications need to be received in good time to be considered for entry to the course; starting in September 2019 at the High Wycombe campus. Visit the Bucks New University website or alternatively email the course leader on advice(at)
